Good results for Gemma Collis and Emily Holder at the Budapest World Cup!

Going into the Women’s Epee (A), Gemma Collis was 1st seed and exempt from the poules. This also meant that she got a bye through to the L16 where she faced Enora Tarju (FRA) and won 15-14. Gemma finished the competition in the L8, losing 15-8 to Xufeng Zou (CHN).

Gemma also competed in the Women’s Sabre (A) where once again she had an exemption and bye. In the L16 she dominated her match, winning 15-0 against Albina Davlyatova. In the L8 Gemma faced Nataliia Morkvych (UKR), whee she lost 15-12.

Gemma also took part in the Women’s Foil (A). Having less experience in this weapon, Gemma went 3V1D in the poules. She faced Linor Kelman (ISR) in the L32 where she lost 15-13.

Emily Holder took part in the Women’s Epee (B) where she went 3V3D in the poules. She faced Anri Sakurai (JPN) in the L32 where she lost 15-10.

In the Women’s Sabre (B) Emily went 2V3D in the poules. She fenced against Olena Fedota-Isaieva (UKR) in the L16 where she lost 15-7.

Emily also entered the Women’s Foil (B) where she had a great poule, going all up. She got a bye through to the L16 where she lost to Jingling Zhou.

Both Gemma and Emily also entered the Team Women’s Foil where they faced 1st seeded China. As this was a new team they went in unseeded but managed to put up a fight against the Chinese team: in the end losing 30-11.
