Gold for Kaeto Ngoka and three other medals for our Salle Paul Phoenix Fencers!

 

U12 Girls’ Epee:

Kaeto Ngoka started her competition well, winning all five of her poule matches. After entering the DEs as the 1st seeded fencer, she had a bye into the L8. In this round she fenced against Phoebe Howell and won the match 10-4. In the Semi-Final she faced Serena Wan Tao So and won tis 10-5. In the final round she came up against Etta Milford. Kaeto finished the day winning this 10-5 and took home the gold medal.

 

Salma Wagdi didn’t lose a single fight in her poule and went into the DEs as the 2nd seed. She got a bye to pass through the L16 and then faced Anna Colaluca in the L8. This match was very close but Salma came off as the better of the two, winning 10-9. In the Semi-Final, Salma fenced against Etty Milford. She put up a good fight but lost the match 10-8. Salma walked away from the competition with a very strong result and a bronze medal.

 

U10 Boys’ Epee:

Pietro Revedin Di San Martino had a very strong poule, going all up and going into the DEs as the 1st seed. This got him a bye into the L8 where he fenced Zachary Majid and Pietro won 10-4. His Semi-Final match against Zachary Dowden was a tight affair but he fought until the end and won 10-9. After securing a second place medal, Pietro lost in the final to Noah Wang 10-5.

 

U12 Boys’ Epee:

Alfredo Luis-Gomes began his competition by going 2V3D in his poule. He got a bye through the L32 and fenced Alfie Nichols in the L16 where he had a comfortable 10-3 victory. His L8 match was against the number 1 seed, Cheuk Fung Leung and Alfredo managed to beat him 10-8. In the Semi-Final he lost to Konstantin Schtakleff 10-6, finishing the competition with a very well deserved bronze medal.

Ryan Lian won went 4V0D in his poule. He got a bye through to the L16 where he fenced against Ahaan Raswant and won the match 5-4. In the L8 he lost by a very close 9-8 against Derek Adio.

Antonios Moraitis won 4 and lost 1 in his poule. He got a bye through to the L16 and fenced against Richard Leo, winning the match 10-3. His L8 match was against Chun Nok Eric Li and he lost the match 10-4.

 

Cadet Boys’ Epee:

Daniel Shulman went 5V0D in his poule. After getting a bye, his first DE was in the L32 against Oliver Reagen and Daniel won 15-12. In the L16 he met Xander D’Cruze-Reeves and Daniel moved on to the next round with a 13-7 victory. His day ended in the L8 where he lost to James Fairholme 15-13.

James Martin went 4V1D in his poule. After his bye into the L32, James fenced against Edward King. Though he fought hard and made it a very close fought battle, he lost the match 15-13.

 

Cadet Girls’ Epee:

Xanthe Trim went 4V2D in her poule. She got a bye to get through the L64 and in the L32 she fenced against Tilly Coughtrie. Unfortunately she narrowly missed out on making it to the next round, losing 15-14.

 

Men’s Open Epee:

Richard Roseblade won five and lost one in his poule. A bye took him through to the L32 where he came up against Caden Tsang and he won the match 15-9. In the L16 Richard exited the competition, losing to Philip Huard 15-10.

Hugh Kernohan went 4v2D in his poule. In the L64 he beat Eugene Li 15-7. In his L32 match he won against Lane Parker by a very close margin, 15-14. In the L16 Hugh had another very close match but unfortunately couldn’t come away with the win this time, losing 15-14 to Rosislav Rusev.

Philip Jordan went 3V3D in the poules. In the L64 he fenced against Patrick Lawler and won the match 14-11. Philip lost to Oskar Van Heerden in the L32: 15-13.

Oscar Casadio-Robinson went 1V4D in the poules. In the L64 he fenced against Harrison banks and lost the match 15-7.

Simon Brock went 1V5D in his poule. He fenced Oleg Shkarovskyy in the L64 and lost 15-10.
