Gold for Oskar Picton Tully in Wales!

 

Boys’ Foil

Oskar Picton Tully had a strong poule, winning five and losing one 5-4. Going into the DEs, he was seeded third and got a bye into the L32. In this round he fenced against Brandan Yeung and confidently moved on to the next round with a 15-4 victory. In the L16 he met his teammate, Tudor Prutica and won the fight 15-2. His L8 was against Raphael Bertrand and Oskar moved on to the medal round after a tight, 15-13 victory. His Semi-Final match was against George Qin and the story was similar to the prior match, finishing as a 15-13 win for Oskar. The final was a close match but we’re happy to say that Oskar managed to fight well enough to earn the win and the gold medal. Congratulations to Oskar for a brilliant day of fencing and a first-place-finish to show for it.

Tudor Prutica won four of his six poule fights. He got a bye through the L64 and in the L32 he met Harry Cloke. This resulted in a 15-9 win for Tudor. As mentioned, he unfortunately went out to Oskar in the round of 16.

Felix Berndorfer only lost one of his six poule matches. After being seeded 7th, he got a bye through the L64. He had a close fight in the L32 and unfortunately didn’t come out on top, losing the match 15-14.

Quince Fung went 2V3D in his poule. After a bye through the L64, he fenced against George Qin in the L32 and lost the match 15-11.

 

Girls’ Epee

Xanthe Trim won four and lost one of her poule fights. She seeded 5th and got a bye through the L32. In the L16 she met her teammate, Seraphine Matthew and won the bout 15-13. She had another close call in the L8, where she met another of her teammates. This time it was against Alma-Constance Denis-Smith and finished 15-14 to Xanthe. Her Semi-Final was also decided by only one point but unfortunately Xanthe didn’t come out on top of this match and lost 14-13 to Matilda Careless. She finished a great day of fencing with a bronze medal.

Alma-Constance Denis-Smith won four and lost one in the poule round. She seeded fourth and got a bye through the round of 32. In the L16 she fenced against Cosima Brabury and won the bout 15-6. She put up a good fight in the L8 but lost to her teammate Xanthe.

Kaeto Ngoka went 4V2D in her poule and the two she lost were only 5-4. She was seeded sixth and got a bye through the first round. In the L16 she fenced against Saskia Scholey and lost the match 15-12.

Seraphine Mathew went 3V3D in her poule. She met Iona Bradley in the L32 and won the fight 10-5. She then lost to Xanthe in the round of 16.

 

Boys’ Epee

Timur Hursever won five of his six poule fights. He finished the poules as the 5th seed and got a bye through the L64. In the L32 he faced Imad Ahmed and won the match 15-13. He then met Christopher Kawtin in the L16 and moved on with a comfortable 15-4 victory. His L8 was a closer fight but Timur managed to find the win, finishing the fight 15-13 against Harry Wright. His tournament ended in the Semi-Finals, where he lost to Lucas Farlam 15-8. This concluded a great day of fencing from Timur, who finished with a bronze medal.

Daniel Shulman went 4V1D in his poule. He got a bye through the L64 and in the L32 he fenced against Jion Chang, winning 15-6. In the L16 he went up against Musa Khan and won the match 15-9. His competition ended in the L8 where he lost to Felix De Poumeyrol 13-9.

James Martin won four and lost one fight in the poules.  After his bye through the L64, he fenced Benjamin Geens in the L32 and lost 15-9.

Francisco Tudela went 1V4D in his poule. He fenced against Oliver Reagen in the L64 and lost the bout 15-10.

Elliot Fung got 1V4D in his poule. he fenced against Imad Ahmed in the L64 and lost the bout 15-8.

 

Boys’ Sabre

Matthew Yeremeyev began his tournament by winning all six of his poule fights. This seeded him second and got him a bye through the L64. In the L32 he fenced Tomi Olusoga and won by a comfortable margin of 15-3. He then met Harry Bowman in the L16 and moved on swiftly after a 15-7 victory. He lost in the L8 to George Lucas, 15-7.
