Gold for Oscar Casadio-Robinson and two more medals for our Salle Paul Phoenix fencers!
This event had a different format to usual epee competitions in order to create a Pentathlon-style event. Each category had a poule unique and the matches were to one touch. The DEs were to five touches and had a one minute time-limit.
U19 Mixed/Men:
Oscar Casadio-Robinson got 16V6D in the poule. This seeded him third going into the DEs and he got a bye through to the L16 as a result. This match was against Dan Garland and it finished 2-2 but Oscar got the win due to having priority. His L8 match was against Oliver Stenhouse and Oscar won the bout 4-3. In the Semi-Final he faced Ferris Lovell and won the match comfortably this time: 5-2. He managed to take this confidence into the final and won 5-1 against Elliot Trepess. A very well deserved gold medal finish for Oscar.
Solu Ngoka had a very strong start in his poule, finishing with 21V1D. After being seeded first, he got a bye to the L16.
