Gold and Silver at Vets International in Paris!

 

Men’s Epee V1:

David McKay won two and lost four of his pool matches. In the L32 he fenced against Florian Hegemann (GER) and lost the match 10-5.

 

Men’s Epee V2:

Etienne De Burgh went 3V3D in his poule. This got him a bye through there L128 and in the L64 he fenced against Roberto Magliozzi (ITA). The final result was 10-6 to Magliozzi.

 

Men’s Epee V3:

Simon Pink won two and lost four in his poule. In the L64 he met Rodolphe Stenger (FRA) and won by a comfortable distance, finishing the bout 10-2. His L32 was against Leo Lörinczi (HUN) and he won the match 10-6. He continued his winning run in the L16 by beating Andre Schmidt (GER) 10-8. Simon did’t stop here and in the L8 kept his nerve by beating Branislav Ohrablo (SVK) 10-7 and making his way into the medal rounds. He had a tough Semi-Final match but managed to find the win and beat Stephane Huerto (FRA) 10-8. He didn’t manage to win the final against Robert Mardi (HUN) and lost 10-3. This finished a fantastic day from Simon who took home an international silver medal.

Pete Eames won three and lost two matches 5-4 in his pool. In the L64 he fenced against JP Torterotot (FRA) and confidently won the match 10-3. He continued fencing well in the L32 where he met Carlo Fornaseri (ITA) and won the bout 10-5. He eventually lost in the L16 to Branislav Ohrablo (SVK).

Jeremy Baker went 1V4D in his poule. In the L64 he lost to Rolf Kittler (GER) 10-4.

 

Women’s Epee V3:

Mariette Mason went 1V5D in her poule In the L32 she fenced against Denise Liefert (SUI) and the score ended in a 10-5 loss.

 

Men’s Foil V4:

Graham Paul won one and lost three matches in his poule.In the L16 he fenced against Fritz Kristbergs (CAN) and won the match 10-2. His L8 was against first seeded Didier Marechal (FRA) and he won the bout 10-4. He carried this good form into the Semi-Final where he beat Jean Cuneo (FRA) 10-4. The final proved to be a tougher test for Graham but that didn’t stop him from finding the victory and beating Pasquale Parisi (FRA) 8-6. An excellent day in the foil for Graham and a gold medal to show for it.

 

Men’s Sabre V4:

Graham Paul also competed in the sabre event and began his competition with two wins and six defeats in his poule. He had a close L16 against Patrice Paton (FRA) but eventually lost the match 10-7.
