First Junior medals for the SPP team!
Sabre:
In sabre event Salle Paul Phoenix was represented by Eva Aziz-Picardet and Clara Shimmin.
Eva has won 3 out of 4 matches in her poole. And was seeded 5th, after which she qualified for Tableau B, where she beat Lauren Anderson 15-13. In Tableau G Eva fenced to get back in fight for the medal and beat Nicole Brown (15-5). In the final 8 she met with another SPP fencer Clara Shimmin and lost in a close fight 15-11.
Clar Shimmin went 4V1D in the poole and started DE as 4th seeded. She easily beat Charlotte Franklin 15-3. And in the final 8 met with Eva Aziz-Picardet victory against whom allowed her to advance to the semi-finals. In the semis Clara lost to Tosin Ononaiye and finished the competition with an important bronze medal.
Epee:
Solu Ngoka won Junior BRC A! He started well in the poole with 4V1D and made a strong way to the final by beating Fraser Maclean 15-6. In the second round of a repechage competition he kicked out Imad Ahmed with the score 15-8. In the next round he beat N2 seeded Thomas Sharples 15-6 and advanced to the top 8. In the quarter-finals he met with Matt Xiao and won 15-9. In the semi-finals he was facing his clubmate Jack Beckley and won with the close score 15-13. In the tough final against Sameer Sunder-Rajan he managed to win 15-13.
Jack Beckley got all of the victories in the poole and after being seeded first won the DE match against Aaryan Sharma Patel (15-5). In his next match he kicked out Arthur Bennett (15-4). Next he met with Harrison Banks and won with the score 15-11. Then he continued his journey in the top8, where firstly he beat Lucas Farlam (15-7), but then met with the clubmate Solu Ngoka and lost in a very close fight 15-13 and came out with the bronze medal!
Ayman Chow started his day with 2V4D won his first match against Oskar van Heerden in a very nervous match ending 15-14. Following that, he lost to Sameer Sunder-Rajan 15-9. Ayman went into Tableau E where he beat Jonathan Law 15-13, and then lost to Samuel Evans with the same score of 15-13.
Oscar Casadio Robinson started his competition journey with 2V2D. In the direct elimination round he lost his first match to Thomas Sharples 15-12.
Emma Mitzova started the season with bronze at the Junior BRC A. She started the poole with 4V2D. She had a BYE through the first round, and then beat Adele Timurkan 15-6. Then Emma defeated Erika Hodkinson with the score 15-11. Following that she beat Isabella D’Abraccio (15-12) and qualified for top 8, where she again met with Isabella and had a very close 15-14, but managed to hold victory to herself. However in the semi-finals Emma lost 15-13 to the eventual champion of the event.
Foil:
Aiden Robinson had a great start with winning 4 matches out of 5. In his first DE tableau Aiden made a very quick way up to the top tableau by winning against Nathan Mooney (15-5), then Ethan Mo (15-6), then Arthur O’Donnell (15-11) and also confidently defeated Finn Keen with the score 15-5. Aiden had confident match in quarter-finals against Ethan Li (15-9). In the semi-finals he faced Alexander James but unfortunately lost, securing a great result overall and a bronze medal!
Yaqub Wagdi started poole with 5V1D. In the main tableau he beat Teddy Eagleton (15-10), then he kicked out of the fight Jeremy Chan (15-8), and continued his winning streak by beating James Havard 15-10. A match against Alexander James allowed Yaqub to qualify to top8. Where Yaqub met with James, who unfortunately took revenge 15-12.
Ashley Crees got 4V2D in his poole. Ashley showed a big desire for victory and defeated all his 4 opponents on the way to top 8. He beat Lawrence Coe (15-8), then Tze Ho Tam (15-8), defeated Ethan Li (15-12). The victory against Sam Barras (15-8), allowed him to qualify for top8. Unfortunately in the quarter-final Ashley faced Finn Keen and lost in a close match 15-12.
Felix Berndorfer started his poole with 3V3D. Felix had a great match against Jake Leung and won 15-9. Then he defeated N1 seed Luca Florea 15-13, however then he lost to Alexander James (15-7). Felix continued his day in Tableau E, where he beat Tze Ho Tam 15-11. In his next match his lost in a very close score 15-14 to Ethan Li.
Harry Roberts started his day with 4V2D. Harry started his DE with a confident win against William Stirling with the score 15-4, then he defeated his clubmate Tudor Prutica 15-9. But unfortunately he lost to Eizan Kwan with the same score 15-9 in the next match. He then continued his competition in a Tableau E but lost to Guillermo Hahn 15-10.
Tudor Prutica had a confident start with winning 5 matches out of 6 in the poole. He then beat Lucas Ngai 15-12. In the next match he met with the clubmate Harry Roberts, but lost 15-9. He then moved to Tableau D, where he lost against Wilfred Kent 15-10.
Oskar Picton Tully began his day with 4V2D in the poole. In his first DE match he easily beat Taliesin Skone with the score 15-3. Unfortunately then Oskar lost to Raphael Bertrand 15-9. In Tableau D Oskar met with Ralph Jenkins in a very close match 15-13.
