Silver and Bronze for Juliet and Tristan!

 

Women’s Epee

 

Juliet Lumineau began her competition by winning all seven of her poule matches. Consequently, she was seeded 1st and got a bye through the L32. Her opponent, Abigail Willmott unfortunately had to take medical withdrawal, which meant Juliet moved on to the L8. In this round she fenced against Amelia Millward and won the match 15-11. Having already confirmed her spot in the medal places, she continued with her confident performance and beat Magdalena Lewandowska 15-11 to book her place in the Final. She met Anna Anstal and though Juliet was able to make the fight a competitive one, she wasn’t able to find the win and lost the match 15-12. She may not have come away with the gold but can be happy with a very strong outing from start to finish and concluding her day with a silver medal.

 

Men’s Epee

 

Tristan Lumineau fenced well in his poule and won all six of his matches. He was seeded 1st and got a bye through the L128. In the L64 he met Alexander Peach and comfortably won the bout 15-4. He fenced against Matt Xiao in the L32 and produced another confident performance, finishing the match 15-7. He didn’t let up in the L16 where he went up against William Kihlstrom and won 15-6. His L8 was against Andriy Mnih and Tristan managed to make his way into the medal rounds with a decisive 15-7 victory. In the Semi-Final he fenced against Cador Beautyman and though Tristan kept the fight close up to the very last point, he couldn’t quite find the win and lost the match 15-14. After a well fenced tournament and fine margins he finished the day with a very respectable bronze medal.

Solu Ngoka started his competition by winning five of his six poule matches (only losing one 5-4). He was seeded 6th and got a bye through the L128. In the L64 he met Paul Gregory and had a comfortable 15-5 victory. His next DE was against Max Titmuss and Solu won the bout 15-8. In the L16 he faced Hon Chun Ko and put in a good performance but also lost by the finest of margins. The match ended with a score of 15-14 to Ko.

Ashley Crees also got 5V1D with a 5-4 defeat. He seeded 7th and got a bye through the L128. In the L64 he fenced against Michael Robinson and made his way to the next round with a confident 15-5 victory. His L32 match was against Carl Lindgren and Ashley won the bout 15-11. His competition ended in the L16 where he faced Nolan Peterson and lost the match 15-10.

Luca Pellegrinello had a strong poule, finishing it with 4V2D. He got a bye through the L128 and in the L64 he fenced against Anthony Anzani which he won by 15-8. He fenced against Gabriel Tribe in the L32 and fenced well, moving on with a 15-7 victory. In the L16 he had a tough fight against Cador Beautyman and lost 15-4.

Harrison Hampton got 4V2D in his poule and got a bye through the L128. His L64 was against Lucas Heath and Harrison stayed calm in a match of high pressure, winning 15-14. He fenced against Vladimir Kukharev in the L32 and lost the match 15-12.

Pete Eames also won four of his six poule matches, meaning he got a bye through the L128. His L64 was against Robert Short and Pete fenced confidently, winning 15-8. He had a close match in the L32 but eventually lost to Nathan Newton 15-13.

Ahmed Aly got four victories and two defeats in his poule, meaning he got a bye through the L128. He fenced against Vladyslav Verteletskyi in the L64 and won the match 15-10. In the L32 he lost to Nolan Peterson 15-6.

Hugh Kernohan got 3V3D in his poule and got a bye through the L128. His L64 match was against SPP fencer, Youssef Deghedy and he moved on to the L32 with a 15-9 victory. His next DE was against Cador Beautyman and lost the match 15-10.

Richard Roseblade got 4V2D in his poule and got a bye through the L128. In the L64 he lost to Darran Milne 15-7.

Youseff Deghedy won three and lost three in his poule, getting him a bye through the first DE. In the L64 he lost to his teammate, Hugh Kernohan.

Tin Yat Aymen Chow got 3V3D in his poule. After his bye through the L128 he fenced against Matt Xiao and lost on priority.

Philip Jordan got 3V3D in his poule. He got a bye through the L128 and then lost to Alexander Van De Ende by 15-8 in the L64.

James Martin also won three and lost three in his poule. This got him a bye through the L128 and in the L64 he fenced against Hon Chun Ko and lost 15-11.

Simon Brock didn’t manage to get a win in his poule. In the L128 he fenced against Alexander Peach and made the fight extremely competitive but just missed out on making the L64, losing 15-14.
