Four golds and more from our Salle Paul Phoenix youth fencers!

U10 Boys’ Epee

Pietro Revedin Di San Martino went 2V2D in his first poule and 3V1D in his second poule. He met Nicholas Christodoulou in the L8 and won the match 10-4. He met his teammate, Nick Yin in the Semi-Final and won a very close match, beating him by just one point. In the Final he went up against Carrick Leung and comfortably won the bout 10-3. He finished the tournament with a gold medal: an excellent result after a strong day of fencing.

Nick Yin got 3V1D in his first poule and 3V1d in his second poule. He was seeded 1st going into the DEs and got a bit through the L8. In the Semi-Final he lost to his teammate Pietro and finished the tournament with a very respectable 3rd place finish.

U10 Girls’ Epee

Nila Sathish got 2V2D in his first poule and 3V1D in her second poule. In the Semi-Final, she met fellow SPP fencer, Hanna Barik and won the match 6-5. In the final she faced Ella Burrows and though it was a close fight, Nila managed to find the victory and won the match and competition by finishing the bout 10-8. Congratulations to Nila for her excellent gold medal result.

Hannah Barik won 1 out of her first 4 poule matches and 2 out of four in her second poule. She unfortunately met Nila in the Semi-Final and lost by the most narrow of margins but can still be happy that she left the competition with a bronze medal.

U12 Boys’ Epee

Nick Yin won two and lost one in his first poule and won all three in his second poule. He was seeded first going into the DEs and got a. bye through the L8. His Semi-Final match was against Marco Baruque and Nick fenced well, winning the bout 10-6. The Final was against Benjamin Abreu-Acker and Nick managed to finish the competition with another 10-6 victory, securing himself a gold medal after fencing a brilliant tournament.

Ryan Lian won one and lost two in his first poule and got the same result in his second poule. He fenced against Freddy Brewin in the L8 and won the match by a comfortable score of 10-3. His Semi-Final was against Benjamin Abreu-Acker and Ryan lost the match 10-6. He finished the tournament with a bronze medal!

Joshan Barik went 1V2D in his first poule and 3V0D in his second poule. He was seeded 2nd going into the DEs but unfortunately lost a very close fight against Benjamin Abreu-Acker in the L8, finishing 10-8.

U12 Girls’ Epee

Salma Wagdi went all up in both her first and second poule. This seeded her 1st and gained her a bye through the L8. In the Semi-Final she fenced against Sienna Allko and won by a comfortable scoreline of 10-2. The Final proved to be a tougher test for her, however she managed to find the crucial hit that got her the victory. The final score was 10-9. Salma showed confident fencing through the competition and deservedly won the gold medal.

Nila Sathish won two and lost one in both of her poules. She was seeded 2nd going into the DEs and also got a bye through the L8. She had a very close Semi-Final match but unfortunately lost the bout 6-5. She finished the tournament with a bronze.
